There are two graded assignments to date for grade six. The first was an exercise to demonstrate ability to send an email using the Google Apps account. The email had to follow a certain format and include a subject line and a CC address. I responded to the email and included an attachment that students had to download and place into their network folders. The directions to be followed are shown in Digital Space 1 on the webmix.
The second assignment, Digital Space 2, was a transfer of three or more posts from the old blog platform, Classblogmeister, to our new space on Kidblog.
Some students have begun working to organize their network folders by moving files and creating and deleting sub-folders That activity is Digital Space 3. That will be our in-class assignment on October 1. I have already explained various folder views and ways to sort items within a folder. Students who are absent need to either make up work at home if it is in an online account such as Google Docs, or arrange to come in at recess time during open lab to make up other assignments.
Students also had the opportunity to log into the Type to Learn 4 account and take a pretest on keyboarding skills. They can go to this activity whenever they are caught up with classwork. I strongly encourage you to use the keyboarding link at the left of this page to see how to download this web-based program so that the school progress, which is self-adjusting, can be continued at home.
