Unfortunately the snow day today has caused us to miss our class. I am not sure if there will be a way to make it up this week but I will look into it. In the meantime I have posted participation scores for the Hour of Code, which was Google Classroom assignment 003-5. If there is no score in PowerSchool for that assignment then that means the assignment has not been turned in. Students submitted a snip of one or more progress bars from the Code Studio site to indicate how much was accomplished during our coding time. Some students only worked in class and others continued on their own outside of class. Many students worked in the Star Wars or Minecraft coding activities. Students could also submit the URL of a game or activity designed by them (sent via email) that could later be shared with others. Students could also do an additional sequence in another activity. Because I have to submit numbers even though the grade is a letter, here are the equivalents:
S (84)Participation but no screenshot submitted via Google Classroom 003-5
G (89)Participation and screenshot of progress submitted>
VG (94) Participation and screenshot of progress submitted and one additional level completed or one shared activity URL submitted via email.
Anyone who does not submit a screenshot for 003-5 will receive an S for participation, but I am leaving the assignment open for those who have not yet completed it so they can earn at least a G. Because of issues on the coding site (millions of students participating), some progress was not saved in the progress bar. I asked students to let me know in the comment section when submitting their snip if the progress bar did not show what they had actually completed.
Next we are moving into a discussion of Internet Safety topics.
