Here we are at the end of another school year!
Fourth graders were working hard on their science fair projects during the end of April and into May, and we spent several class periods working on concepts relating to topic research, gathering data, and graphing the data. The students have written about their projects and included a photo of the project display on their blogs. Please check out their posts and leave a comment. Science Fair Posts. We also closed with a problem solving, team building activity from Breakout EDU. Fourth graders discovered that working together as a team paid off when each team member put on their thinking caps and shared ideas.
I encourage fourth graders to continue to write blog posts over the summer if they would like to share an interesting experience, a place visited, or perhaps a great book read. I will periodically check for any posts awaiting approval. Students may even include images (since by now they should know how to upload an image) but please remember privacy rules and do not include photos that show your faces or any other personally identifiable information. I would also expect students to remember to use quality sentences and do proofreading before submitting a post. What new ideas can you share with the world over the summer?
Finally, please note that the student Google accounts will be suspended for the summer. Even though an occasional blog post would be a great way to keep writing skills fresh, don't spend too much time in front of a screen this summer. Enjoy nature, visit with friends, create new things. (Remember how you made a creation out of odds and ends in technology class?) Use your imagination and read, read, read. Be safe, be smart, and have fun!
