11/20/2016 November 20, 2016On Wednesday, November 16, the seventh grade had time in homeroom to work on their water footprint chart (005-7) which was due on November 18. I had returned some submitted charts with comments on what needed to be corrected and also created a sample chart with information. I also offered an open lab on Thursday, November 17, but no seventh graders took advantage of that. As of today there are 5 students who have yet to submit the assignment which is now late. As the trimester comes to a close I will end up having to score whatever has been completed whether it is finished or not. After this introductory activity in using Google spreadsheets we will move on to researching and charting other data regarding water footprints and continue to make connections to the Global Goals. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a blessed Thanksgiving. Let us be thankful for our families and the gifts of the earth, not only water, but all that we have been given in our beautiful world. Below is Pope Francis's prayer regarding protecting the earth: A Prayer for Our Earth
All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists. Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty. Fill us with peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one. O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth, so precious in your eyes. Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction. Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth. Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light. We thank you for being with us each day. Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle for justice, love and peace. Pope Francis, Laudato Si’ Comments are closed.
