We have been working on researching information about an assigned state. I created a Google Doc with the information outline and students made their own copies, shared with Mrs. Smith and myself, and we did the research for each topic together. I have two sample documents going so that I was doing the research for a state along with them: Pennsylvania and Iowa.
This week I introduced them to EDUGlogster, a site where they will build their digital posters to showcase the research on their states. (The site is easily accessible by clicking on the big G tile on the cougartech webmix. )Everyone made sure they could log into the site with their assigned usernames and passwords, and if they had time, did a little experimentation with the tools. Students are welcome to sign into their accounts at any time and if they are interested in creating their own glogs on another topic that is fine. This coming week in class I will demonstrate setup of the background and inserting images from the image links they have already researched. When the digital posters (glogs) are finished they will be embedded into a blog post to share with the world, as well as students presenting them orally to their classmates. It is a project fourth graders enjoy each year because there are so many tools to use and ways to do creative design to showcase their information!
